Patriotic Centerpiece with Farmhouse Style and a Touch of Bling

June 13, 2018 in For the Home, Crafts, Summer

Sometimes it’s difficult to find the perfect centerpiece for a kitchen table or some other focal point that needs a bit of décor. Holidays are always a fun time of year to decorate, but finding décor for the patriotic holidays that is classic, stylish, and on trend can be challenging. Let’s face it, some patriotic décor is super cute, and a lot of it is just plain tacky! Farmhouse style is definitely trendy right now. Go in any home store, and you will find it!

Red, White, and Blue Farmhouse Décor—A Patriotic Wreath Tutorial—Dollar Store Craft Challenge

June 11, 2018 in For the Home, Crafts, Summer

Since July 4th holiday is coming up in less than a month, I recently decided to make a patriotic farmhouse style wreath. Farmhouse style is so trendy and makes a home feel welcoming and inviting, so what’s better than patriotic farmhouse décor to welcome my family as we go to-and-from home during these hot summer months?!!

When it comes to decorating with red, white, and blue for the holidays, I am pretty picky about the style with which I decorate.

Tips for Moms in the Trenches—Part 1

May 29, 2018 in Just for Mommies

Even though there are countless books and articles about children and how to care for them, babies do not arrive with instruction booklets! There are some things that moms learn in the day-to-day trenches of motherhood. We learn many of these things around the house, from other moms, and while out and about. These tips are learned with experience and sometimes that’s the best way!

White Chocolate Cranberry Almond Muffin Cookies Baked with Carotino Malaysian Red Palm Oil

I enjoy baking muffins and cookies, so last week I created a new recipe that is a hybrid! It has all the delicious chewiness of a freshly baked cookie but also has the moist texture of a muffin.

I have created a few muffin recipes, and sometimes I use oil and other times I use substitute ingredients. Cookie recipes usually require oil, so in order to develop that perfect cross between a cookie and a muffin, I chose to use Carotino Malaysian Red Palm Oil.

From Tacky to Tasteful Desk Makeover ~ Upcycle Challenge Blog Hop

April 09, 2018 in For the Home

A couple years ago I wrote a post titled, Organization 101: Why I Have a Desk. If you decide to read the post, you will discover just how much I have enjoyed my desk over the years and why it has been so useful to me. You will also read that a new coat of paint has been on my to-do list since 2015!

When I first acquired the desk, I painted it crimson and pink. Honestly, it seemed like a good idea at the time, and I liked it back then, but it has become increasingly tacky to me in recent years! For one reason, it doesn’t really match any of my other decor. It has been tucked away in a corner in the guest room, and it didn’t look badly in there. However, I decided to move it to the kitchen area, and of course, it looked atrocious in that location since everything else is neutral tones!

Tater Tot Casserole with Veggies

March 30, 2018 in Recipes

A juicy hamburger with a side of tater tots is considered a delicious all-American meal, but it's missing a key food group. Where are the veggies? A slice of tomato and a leaf of lettuce are good but just not enough!

Tater Tot Casserole with Veggies combines all the flavor of comfort food goodness and sneaks in some tasty vegetables in an easy to prepare dish.

Spring is just around the corner, and I’m sure if you haven’t already, you are getting ready to do a little bit of cleaning inside your home. Pretty in Pink Spring Wreath ~ Dollar Store Craft Challenge Blog Hop

March 12, 2018 in For the Home, Crafts, Spring

For the month of March I decided to participate in a blogging craft challenge along with a group of fabulously creative bloggers. I hope you will visit their sites and maybe even find a couple new people to follow!

Our assignment was to create a craft using items from a dollar store. The first time I went to the store and looked around, I came out empty handed. I was trying to come up with an original craft, and my creative juices just weren’t flowing that day.
