Essential oils have been among the ranks of popular fads for a couple years now; however, my favorite essential oil company doesn’t fall into the fad category. Young Living has been producing quality oils for over 25 years, and I believe the best is yet to come with all the new amazing products they have to offer. You just can’t beat the Thieves products and the Savvy Minerals makeup line plus so much more.
Essential Oils and Diffusers
I use an ultrasonic essential oil diffuser.
This type of diffuser allows the oil to change state without heat. That’s important because heat can change the essential oil. The oil goes into the air as a steamy mist after the ultrasonic vibrations break it down into microparticles.
The reason I began using essential oils and diffusers in the first place was to replace candles, air fresheners, and plug-ins in my home.
Little did I know, my new in-home natural fragrances had many wellness benefits. What a bonus! I was gifted a soy candle for Christmas this year, and yes, I have enjoyed burning it; however, for the majority of the time I use essential oils to freshen and fragrance my home. If you want to know more of my Young Living story, you can read it at My Journey to Essential Oils.
Best Rooms for Diffusers
I have used my diffusers in various rooms in my home… kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedroom, etc. Lots of people like to diffuse at night before bed, so they keep a diffuser in their room or in their children’s rooms.
I currently have a diffuser in one bathroom and the living room. I also have a “floater” that I can move from room-to-room.
The bathroom diffuser is perfect for eliminating odors. It is also centrally located in the center of the house, so it freshens that area. My living room diffuser is great as I have a lot of piano lesson traffic in and out of my home during the week. I like my home to smell fresh for all the students!
While I would love to have a diffuser in every room, in all honesty, that’s just too many for me to maintain. And that leads me to the next point…
Caring for Diffusers
Most diffusers come with a guide that explains how to use and maintain the device. Many diffusers have recommended cleanings after every use, and while that keeps a diffuser functioning at optimum level, I don’t have that kind of time.
I usually clean my diffusers once a week, depending on usage. I haven’t had any problem with my diffusers when following this type of maintenance schedule, but the choice is up to you as far as how often you clean your machine! You definitely don’t want to leave water in your diffuser for days with no use as that could lead to mold issues!
I like using the Thieves Household Cleaner or free and clear dish soap when cleaning my diffusers, but once again, be sure to read your user manual and then use your best judgement.
My Five Favorite Diffuser Blends
As much as I love diffusing oils, let’s face it, some of them just stink! After experimenting with different oil combinations, here are my five favorite diffuser blends. My diffusers are larger, so I use around 12 drops of oil when I fill them. Read the guidelines for your diffuser and adjust the oil drops accordingly.
