Huntsville Marriott at the Space and Rocket Center Hotel Review

Hotel Review Huntsville Marriott® at the Space and Rocket Center

January 12, 2022

*This post is sponsored by the Huntsville Marriott® at the Space and Rocket Center. All opinions are 100% my own. Please see my disclosure policy.

A couple days after Christmas, my family went on a mini-vacation to the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. We had a blast to say the least! Here are a few of the highlights from our day at the Space Center…

Space and Rocket Center Highlights:

  • experienced the Apollo 11 mission in Virtual Reality

  • learned what life is like for astronauts in space by watching Space Explorers: ISS Experience Episode 1 in the Planetarium

  • mailed a letter to space in the Spark Lab

  • learned though interactive play in the Guinness Book of World Records Exhibit

  • explored space and U.S. Army memorabilia and artifacts

While in Huntsville, we spent two nights at the Huntsville Marriott® at the Space and Rocket Center. The Space Center is literally in the back yard of this hotel, and we had a clear view of it from our room!

The Huntsville Marriott® is also conveniently located near the charming Bridge Street Town Centre, an outdoor shopping area featuring cobblestone walkways and European architecture, many restaurant options, a carousel, a mini train, and additional hotel venues. We ate dinner at two different restaurants and did a little shopping the evening before and after our visit to the Space and Rocket Center. We loved the carousel and train ride!

Check-in was straightforward and simple. The attendants were very friendly and even complimented me on my raincoat. They asked if I had any questions regarding my visit and gave me the room number and cards.

The large parking lot hosts plenty of spaces for parking and is well-lit. The elevators were easily accessible, and the luggage carts were helpful in transporting our things to the room.

Room Accommodations Huntsville Marriott® at the Space and Rocket Center

My family was accommodated with a guest room with two double beds.

While this hotel is an older Marriott®, it has been updated in the recent past with more modern furniture and well-lit bathrooms. Our sheets were clean, the beds were exceptionally comfortable with plenty of pillows, and towel sets were provided. We were also given additional towels for our second day upon request.

Our room provided traditional hotel amenities including an iron/ironing board, large work desk with lamp, free WiFi, and a satellite flatscreen TV. The TV even included a message screen welcoming me to the hotel! This is the first hotel I have reviewed with this feature!

My only complaints regarding our room were the cleanliness of the floor and dust on the furniture surfaces. While the sheets were freshly changed and the bathrooms were acceptably clean, the floors had not been vacuumed or mopped. The entire room with the exception of the bathroom had a faux wood flooring, so it was very easy to see that it needed attention. Also, the table between the two beds had layers of dust. Thankfully, I travel with cleaning supplies and wipe down all hotel room surfaces upon arrival.

While I was slightly disappointed with the dusty surfaces and cleanliness of the floor, I understand that hotels are understaffed and employees are overworked since the beginning of COVID; however, cleanliness should be priority, especially in a hotel room.

Other Hotel Amenities at Huntsville Marriott® at the Space and Rocket Center

The hotel features a top-of-the line fitness center, and an outdoor pool is available for seasonal swimming.

The hotel was very quiet and peaceful, and we didn’t even hear or see many of the other guests during our two-night stay.

Complimentary breakfast is not available for families.

Breakfast from the hotel restaurant is available for a fee, and a hotel convenience store is located next to the check-in desk.

If you are looking for a hotel with a backdoor view of the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, the Huntsville Marriott® is the hotel for your family!
