Family at Christmastime at Comfort Inn™ Apple Valley

The week before Christmas is a fabulous time for a quick trip to the Great Smoky Mountains. I don’t know if Pigeon Forge, Tennessee ever has a down-time, but it’s a little less crowded the week before Christmas.

As with any touristy area, Sevierville/Pigeon Forge has endless hotels, cabins, condos, and chalets. It can be overwhelming when trying to find a family-friendly hotel with a reasonable price tag. That’s why we were so excited to try out Comfort Inn™ Apple Valley.

It is easy to see why Comfort Inn™ Apple Valley is one of two Comfort Inns in the state of Tennessee that is ranked in the top one percent of the Comfort Inn™ brand by Choice Hotels International.

The general manager and team members listen to their guests and strive to make all guests comfortable in their home away from home.

My family loves the area right off the Parkway known as Apple Valley. Comfort Inn™ is conveniently located to some of our all-time favorites, The Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant and The Apple Barn and Cider Mill. On our recent visit, we ate at The Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant on Thursday evening. Then we stopped in The Apple Barn and Cider Mill on Friday night around dinner time for an apple dumpling with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

The children ordered a candy apple and a chocolate-caramel apple from the candy shop, and we had a cozy time eating in the little café. Since The Apple Barn and its shops are open until 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, we had plenty of time to eat a snack and browse around even though we arrived around 5:30 p.m. It wasn’t crowded at all, and that was the best part!

Comfort Inn™ Apple Valley Check-in

My husband took care of getting us all checked-in with the front desk attendant, and he said everything was as smooth as “apple pie”!

Employees were wearing masks at the time of our visit, and clear dividers are stationed at the front desk for safer transactions between employees and guests. The hotel has many safety precautions in place to keep guests safe during their stay such as hand sanitizer stations and round-the-clock routine cleaning of high-traffic areas.

After driving to our parking spot, we went in to see the room. The hallways and elevators leading to our room looked and smelled freshly clean. Hotel cleanliness is always top priority for me, and it is obviously the same for Comfort Inn™ Apple Valley. Hotel team members use specialized cleaning products around the hotel, and housekeepers pay special attention to high-touch surfaces in the rooms (i.e. tv remote, phones, light switches, desk surfaces, etc.)

The general manager gave us a warm welcome to our hotel room by leaving a hand written note and a gift package filled with coffee, apple cider, and a coffee mug. How special! I was extremely impressed with his professionalism in my interactions regarding our hotel stay.

The front desk attendants also told me the general manager is in charge of all the beautiful Christmas decorations in the lobby and around the hotel. The decorations were amazing, and I so enjoyed the at-home atmosphere at the front entrance. The tree was gorgeous, and the cozy fireplace was so inviting!

Comfort Inn™ Apple Valley’s Standard Room with Two Queen Beds and Private Balcony

The standard room was plenty spacious for our family of four. We especially enjoyed the sitting area for relaxing and just lounging around.

The children liked using the desk for coloring and sticker projects! The room was decorated very tastefully with calming, neutral décor.

The large wardrobe-style closet gave us room to hang our clothes and tuck away extra bags and shoes. We also appreciated the ottoman-style piece of furniture that we used as a luggage rack. I love when hotels provide a place to keep luggage off the floor.

While the hotel is not a newly built hotel, it is pristinely maintained. Not only were the bathrooms sparkling clean, but even the grout and caulking were well-kept. We were provided with plenty of plush bath towels, cloths, and traditional hotel toiletries.

Hotel Bathroom at Comfort Inn™ Apple Valley

In addition to the large sink/mirror vanity in the bathroom, there was an additional sink with mirror in the room right outside the bathroom. It was the perfect spot to dry and style my hair and apply makeup for the day. That feature is definitely a win for moms!

On Friday morning, my daughter locked the bathroom door, and since no one was in the bathroom, she totally locked us out! She said she just wanted to see what would happen!! My husband went down to the front desk, and maintenance had the door unlocked in a matter of minutes. Nothing like having to call maintenance for locking yourself out, but the hotel staff was super nice about it!

Additional Hotel Amenities and Breakfast at Comfort Inn™ Apple Valley

Each room at Comfort Inn™ Apple Valley includes a private balcony/patio, Wi-Fi, a 32-inch flat panel TV with great channels, a mini fridge, and a microwave.

My children were begging to swim in the indoor pool, but due to COVID-19, we chose not to swim. It’s such a toss-up, and my mama heart wanted to say “yes,” because the pool and hot tub looked like so much fun. An outdoor pool is also on location for use in the warmer seasons.

My husband is the grass man in our family, and he was sure to notice the manicured landscaping on property at Comfort Inn™ Apple Valley. I also loved the little outdoor patio. It would be a pleasant place to relax on a warm day, and the apple tree mural is the sweetest touch!

Free grab-and-go breakfast was provided on the second floor from 7-10 a.m. Hot biscuits, gravy, eggs, sausage, cereal, fruits, oatmeal, muffins, and yogurt were available. We checked out pretty early on Saturday morning, so the grab-and-go option allowed us to get checked out and eat while traveling.

Our two-night stay in Sevierville/Pigeon Forge was a Christmas blessing! Thank you, Comfort Inn™ Apple Valley, for your genuine southern hospitality to our family!
