Fall is the perfect time for a beach trip. As long as no hurricanes are on the horizon, the temps and breezes are just right. Plus, the crowds are smaller in the fall!

We had so much family fun a couple weeks ago at Jacksonville Beach!

The weather was sunny with a mix of clouds, and it was actually really warm for October! We had light rain one afternoon, but the shower didn’t last long at all.

Riding Bikes at Jacksonville Beach

My children loved riding their bikes along the edge of the ocean, and Jax beach is ideal for long walks and running! The sand is mostly packed down so bike riding is super popular!

We took a pop-up tent and our beach chairs and thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on the beach for four plus hours a day! We used plenty of sunscreen, and our tent was a lifesaver.

A Day at Jacksonville Beach

The search and rescue crews were called out to look for someone in the water on our first full day at the beach. Thankfully, it was a false alarm and no one was injured. It was amazing watching the helicopter, life boats, jet ski, and rescue personnel complete their rescue mission.

Jacksonville Beach provides plenty of opportunity for shopping along with a variety of restaurants within minutes from the beachfront. Publix® grocery store is located a few blocks over from our hotel, so we picked up subs for a very late lunch one day.

We also enjoyed Chipotle and Rita’s Italian Ice® while in Jax. We spent so much time on the beach that we ate breakfast and only one other meal a day, but we had plenty of snacks in the room to hold us over! We may have splurged just a little in that department!

Check-in at Four Points® by Sheraton Jacksonville Beachfront

After our car ride and all the interstate traffic, we were more than thrilled to arrive at our hotel, Four Points® by Sheraton Jacksonville Beachfront. The hotel was very easy to locate, and parking was super simple and convenient. We were given a parking pass at check-in for the length of our stay.

The two front desk associates were friendly and welcoming. They wanted to know where we had traveled from and explained all the basic information about parking, the hotel restaurant, complimentary towels for the beach and pool, etc.

The hotel associates were following protocol for COVID-19 by wearing masks, and the front desk also has shields to keep guests at a proper social distance. At the time of our visit, all hotel guests were required to wear masks within indoor public areas.

Cleanliness is always a top priority for Four Points® by Sheraton Jacksonville Beachfront, but it is even more of a priority with COVID-19. Marriott® has new housekeeping procedures for cleaning. While guests are in house, housekeeping service is not offered until the 6th day unless requested by guests.

Guests can let the front desk know when they wish for housekeeping to enter their room, and the hotel happily accommodates. A time will be arranged for the housekeeper to clean the room when the guests are out of the room. Hospital-grade disinfectants are also used by the housekeepers.

Our room was on the third floor, and I noticed a box of tissues and a sign near each elevator, encouraging guests to use a tissue to press the elevator buttons. I’m one of those people who presses the buttons with my elbows, so I thought this was a great idea!

Even though we didn’t take advantage of housekeeping, the hotel associates were helpful in providing beach towels along with additional bath towels as needed. A beach stay requires lots of fresh towels, so I really appreciated all the access to this necessity.

Hotel Suite at Four Points® by Sheraton Jacksonville Beachfront

Our hotel suite with two queen beds and a sofa bed was fabulous for our family of four. The fluffy hotel beds with traditional white linens were more than cozy. To top it off, our suite had a balcony with an oceanfront view. I absolutely love being able to hear and see the ocean from my hotel room when visiting the beach! The ocean view was actually one of my favorite parts of our stay.

The sofa bed was part of a sitting area that was separate from the bedroom area. The bathroom was centrally located between the two rooms, so our suite could easily sleep up to six people with privacy for two in one area and four in another area. Both areas had a large TV, and a spacious counter with a refrigerator and microwave was conveniently located between the two rooms.

The bathroom had nice lighting, and even though it wasn’t newly renovated, I was impressed with the cleanliness. I imagine cleaning up sand is quite a challenge for the housekeepers, but they do a superb job in this aspect.

Speaking of sand, we were so thankful the hotel provided a foot-washing station to rinse out our beach shoes before going to our room. A water hose was also available, and we used it to rinse off the kids’ bikes after our daily trips to the beach.

The Extras at Four Points® by Sheraton Jacksonville Beachfront

The hotel restaurant, The Eatery, is open for breakfast and dinner. We ate some of the grab-and-go items for breakfast one morning, but most mornings we had cereal in the room. Muffins, bagels, yogurt, fruit, and juice were available for on-the-go, and guests can also order hot breakfast items from the menu.

The hotel has a back patio that faces the beach. We ate a late lunch/early dinner on the patio one afternoon, and it was peaceful and quiet. The patio was livelier in the evenings, but we spent our evenings resting in our room after fun-filled days at the ocean!

Our visit to Jacksonville Beach was three full nights and two-and-a-half days, and I felt it was the perfect amount of time for a mini fall getaway to the beach. Thank you Four Points® by Sheraton Jacksonville Beachfront for an amazing week!
